Hull City have confirmed defender Matty Jacob will spend the season out on loan at Reading. The League One club have finalised an agreement with the Tigers which takes the homegrown player to the Select Car Leasing Stadium for the forthcoming campaign.
The 24-year-old, who has been at the Tigers for 15 years after joining the academy as an under-9s player, has made just 23 appearances for the club since making his first team debut at Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day 2024.
The defender has previously had spells on loan at Pickering Town and Gateshead, and will now move to Noel Hunt’s Reading team, who are hoping to push for promotion after finishing seventh in League One last season.
Hunt said: “Matty joins us and brings plenty of versatility to his role in our defence. As a player he’s very strong going forward, but also demonstrates the necessary qualities in his defensive duties.
He’s someone I’ve had my eye on for a while now, and after spending time playing at the level above, I know he will be a valuable asset for us throughout the season.”
