Beverley Armed Forces Day 2025 will recognise the contribution made from across the Forces and thank them for their services and sacrifices.
The event takes place on Sunday, July 6, from 10am to 4pm and will again see activities centred on Beverley ’s Saturday Market. There will be a particular focus on the 80th anniversaries of both VE and VJ days, said David Elvidge, who is one of the organisers.
“The majority of the parade will be made up of 25 Training Regiment at Leconfield,” said David. “These are the young recruits who have just passed out and never done the Freedom Parade before.
“The parade commander will bang the hilt of his sword on the gate at North Bar to ask permission to come in. All the officers on parade will be carrying swords, it will be quite something to watch.”
Music played during the day will very much have a 1940s slant to “give a nod” to the 80th anniversaries of VE Day and VJ Day, with people able to find out more via the Beverley Armed Forces Day Facebook page. David appealed to anyone parking in the Saturday Market ahead of Armed Forces Day.

He said: “We have the age-old problem of cars parking overnight that we then need to have moved for our event. I would appeal to people, please, please don’t leave your car in the town centre.
“We have to contact the police and the recovery company to have vehicles removed. The Saturday Market place is the issue because it is where all the displays take place and the parade comes in.
“Vehicle owners have to find out where their cars have been taken to and they have to pay to get them back. I’ve been to the hotels and pubs in the area with posters and details.
“We don’t want anyone having to do any of this, anything that might sully Armed Forces Day and what that is about.” Navy, Army and Air Force personnel, as well as cadets and veterans, will be involved in the day.
There will be military displays including equipment such as Land Rovers and a SVR Recovery Truck. Cadets from each service will have a stand and will profile the training opportunities they offer.
Various military charities and veterans’ groups, including SSAFA, Royal British Legion, CESA and the NGVA, will be present to explain how they support active and veteran Armed Forces members and their families in the local community. Reservists will have a stand to explain how they function, combining military and civilian life and also highlighting the important support provided by local employers.
The event will be supported by the Defence School of Transport, Leconfield which is located on the outskirts of Beverley.
