Hull City’s search for a new striker could take them across the north sea to Rotterdam with the club linked with a move for Norwegian forward Tobias Lauritsen. The 27-year-old Sparta Rotterdam player is reportedly attracting interest from a couple of Championship clubs, with the Lions and Tigers named as potential suitors as Millwall and City circle the player.
That’s according to a Soccer News report which states City are keen on a player who has scored 38 goals in 102 games since moving to the Eredivisie. A player who has reached double figures in terms of goals in each of his three seasons in the Netherlands’ top division, an opportunity has arisen to get a deal done with Lauritsen entering the final year of his contract and Sparta knowing this summer represents the last chance to cash in on the player, unless he agrees to a new long term deal.
City boss Sergej Jakirovic has not hidden away from the fact that he believes addressing the lack of quality in the forwards is a priority, with the new manager keen to add to his options up top, which at present include only Mason Burstow and Kyle Joseph. The Tigers will be able to welcome back key signings from last year and long-term absentees in Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi to provide more of a threat from out wide, but need new faces.
Lauritsen started his career in his native Norway and by the age of 16 had already established himself as a first team player. Having played for four Norwegian teams, he finally earned a move to the Eredivisie three years ago and has been a hit in Rotterdam.
