Hull City Council is seeking feedback on planned improvements to two roundabouts in the Kingswood area.
The council is hoping to hear the views of residents, businesses, and community groups on designs for two roundabout improvement schemes at Ennerdale Leisure Centre and Wawne Road / Bude Road, as part of the Kingswood Area Action Plan.
The public engagement will help the council finalise the necessary documents required to secure a contractor for the works. Once a contractor is appointed, it is anticipated that work will start on site by the end of this year.
The council has now launched a six-week public engagement exercise in which people can look at the plans for the roundabouts and share their views both online and in-person.
The planned roundabout improvement schemes will:
- provide additional road space for vehicles and prepare the area for the future and any new development
- improve cycle and pedestrian facilities to support people to walk and ride more
- provide new signalised cycle and pedestrian crossing points to improve safety
- see the management of trees in the area, some of which are proposed to be taken up and replanted. Where this cannot be accommodated, twice as many replacement trees will be planted to improve the local landscape.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, the council’s cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, said: “As a council, it is our ambition to create a highway network and public spaces that ensure our residents can travel in safety and security using whatever form of transport they choose.
“To achieve this, we need to take a proactive and planned approach to futureproofing our city’s infrastructure, with traffic levels and the population expected to grow in the coming years. That is what we are doing in Kingswood through the area action plan.
“We have already completed works to the Wawne Road / Kesteven Way roundabout to provide additional highway capacity as well as improve walking and cycling routes and we are now focussing our attention on the Ennerdale Leisure Centre and Wawne Road / Bude Road roundabouts and are keen to hear from the local community.”
