Hull KR head coach Willie Peters admits Ajahni Wallace’s recent loan move to Toulouse Olympique will allow the forward to put himself “in the shop window” for 2026, with the forward looking set to leave Sewell Group Craven Park at the end of the year.
The 22-year-old Jamaica international is in the final few months of his two-year contract, and looks set to depart without making an official first-team appearance for Rovers.
A former Leeds Rhinos junior, he made the move from Bradford Bulls ahead of the 2024 Super League season, and has since gone out on loan to Doncaster, Featherstone, Whitehaven, Goole and Sheffield.
His latest move was confirmed last week, linking up with Toulouse for the remainder of the Championship season.
“I think it just gives AJ the opportunity to go and play, and put himself in the shop window in terms of other clubs coming in for him,” Rovers boss Peters said.
“We haven’t re-signed him, so clubs can come in to sign AJ. At this stage, it’s about him playing, developing and getting some game time and seeing where he’s at on the back of that.
“We’ll make an announcement when we speak to AJ and finalise that, but it’s an opportunity to play for another club. Toulouse, I believe, are a strong chance of coming up next year. I’m not sure where that’s at, but so I’ve heard. It gives him the opportunity to play for a club that can potentially go up to Super League as well.”
Hull KR recently tied down star playmaker Tyrone May to a new two-year deal, and Peters admits that it could be the final major piece of recruitment business for next season.
The club have already confirmed the signing of powerhouse prop Tom Amone on a three-year deal, currently with Castleford Tigers.
“Recruitment is always ongoing, but there’s not a lot that we’ll do,” Peters confessed.
“There might be one or two announcements that we make, once we decide who we’re going to retain or who’s not going to be here next year and seeing what’s out there. But in terms of that higher-end market, then at the moment, that’ll be it.”
