Salford Red Devils have confirmed two new loan signings from Warrington Wolves ahead of Sunday’s meeting against Hull FC – including one future Hull KR signing.

As first reported by All Out Rugby League this Tuesday afternoon, the Robins have acquired Tom Whitehead for the 2026 season. However, he will spend the next four weeks at Salford on loan from the Primrose and Blue outfit. He is an academy product of the Cheshire-based club.

The Red Devils have also signed Dan Russell on a season-long loan deal, with the player also signing for Wire ahead of the 2025 season. He is a Papua New Guinea international but has struggled to settle in Sam Burgess’ side.

Both players are set to be available to feature against the Black and Whites, who face Salford for the first time this year. The Red Devils, who will host the clash at Salford Community Stadium, remain rooted to the foot of the Super League table and have just one win to their name all season – an early scalp over Huddersfield.

With their season dominated by off-field issues, including severe financial issues that have brought both a sustainability salary cap and numerous player departures, they were defeated 46-4 by St Helens on Sunday, a result that was overshadowed by Sam Stone’s refusal to train or play for the club. He has since joined Warrington as part of the loan deal.
