Hull FC will field another trialist winger from rugby union in Saturday’s reserves derby against Hull KR. Jack Rampton has trained with the Black and Whites this week and is set for a runout in the reserves clash at Hilltop – the home of community club Cottingham Tigers.

A Jamaican 7s player, Rampton, 24, is blessed with speed and stands at 6 feet 4 inches. Hailing from Basingstoke, he has played the union code predominantly in the 7s format, featuring on the international stage for the Caribbean island nation. He has also tried his luck at the 15-man version of the code and played for Reading-based community outfit Rams Rugby Football Club last season.

Hull fielded union speedster Charlie Robson against Salford Red Devils last month, but despite scoring two tries, the young winger didn’t feature for the club again, instead returning to London. However, it’s hoped Rampton will have better luck playing rugby league – with the player set for a run-out against the Robins.

It will be the second meeting of the two clubs at this level this season, with Hull running out 18-16 winners at Craven Park back in March. In fact, the reserves have won their last three games and sit in fourth position in the table.

Meanwhile, Rampton is one of three changes to head coach Francis Cummins’ side. He is joined by Jordon Baker and Callum Smith. Making way are Yusuf Aydin, who will play for the first team against Castleford Tigers this Friday night, and young duo Will Kirby and Ryan Westerman, who are getting valuable first-team experience on loan at Championship outfit Hunslet.

Elsewhere, the likes of Jack Charles, Logan Moy, Zach Jebson, Will Hutchinson, Callum Kemp, Lloyd Jemp, and Joe Ward are all included, with a sequence of academy talent also making up the squad. The game kicks off at 1:00 pm.

Hull reserves squad: Jordon Baker, Jack Charles, Lennon Clark, Owen Haldenby, Will Hutchinson, Zach Jebson, Ben Johnson, Callum Kemp, Lloyd Kemp, Elliot Middlemas, Logan Moy, Jack Rampton, Callum Smith, Alistair Swyer, Jon Turner, Cobie Wainhouse, Joe Ward, Will Wilson
