For the third time in just over 12 months, Hull City have a new head coach after the club confirmed the arrival of Sergej Jakirovic as the replacement for Ruben Selles.
The former Dinamo Zagreb chief takes over after the Tigers negotiated his release from his contract at Turkish Super Lig outfit Kayserispor.
Supporters, however, will have to wait to hear from the Bosnian with the new head coach not set to speak to the media until later in the month, just ahead of the start of pre-season training.
Here’s what some fans have been saying since the club’s big announcement on Wednesday morning…
Oliver Harsley: Now that it’s officially announced, let’s fully back him and see what he may be capable of doing without writing him off because he’s another foreign manager. I absolutely get the scepticism and worry, but that’ll hopefully be sorted out by positive results.
David Wilson-Turner: An interesting appointment for #hcafc to say the least, but then nothing is a surprise with the Tigers these days. Jakirovic has an exceptional record on the continent, winning 59% of his games, but I’m intrigued to see how his attacking style translates into the Championship.
Matt Bonewell: Fully back him until he gives us a reason not to, up the Tigers.
Matt L: Welcome Sergej! Good stats, goals per game and win ratio is promising. Now the manager of my football team, he gets my full support. Now let’s push on with player recruitment.
Chris Davies: Best of luck and welcome to Hull City AFC.
John Uzzell: I welcome him to the club and hope he has a long and successful time here. And more importantly, I hope he is finally what Acun is looking for.
Alex: Full pre-season and summer transfer window coming up for Sergej, absolutely praying he’s got a bit about him. UTT.
Will: Finally official. Now let’s get pushing in some new players, and get ready for next season. We’ve lost a month already, we need to start getting on it ASAP.
Kurt: Let’s hope he has the impact and influence he has had in his last few roles. Welcome to Hull City Sergej Jakirović.
Jonathan Douglas: Good luck, Sergej, you’ll always have the backing of our amazing fans, here’s hoping you can get them playing some good stuff.
Michael Mitchinson: Time to focus. Full pre-season and transfer window to bring a squad together that’s competing in the top half. Get rid of all the deadwood and bring some excitement back to games at the MKM.
Craig Bell: Took a bit but he’s here. Lets hope he gets a decent window to build the squad he needs for a successful season.
