A free and family-friendly science show is coming to Hull.

Science of Superheroes Live Stage Show will be performed at Hymers College on Sunday, May 11, from 3pm to 4pm. The fun and interactive show by The Society for Radiological Protection is aimed at children in Years 3-6.

Tickets must be reserved in advance and are available on a first come, first served basis. There are 250 free tickets to give away, with a maximum of four per request.

Guests can simply email how many tickets they would like together with any access requirements to admin@srp-uk.org to apply. Each group must consist of at least one responsible adult; younger siblings are welcome as part of the group.

A spokeswoman for The Society for Radiological Protection (SRP) said: “We have it on good authority that Superman, the Incredible Hulk, Spider-Gwen and Captain America are all planning to visit Hull on 11th May!”

Explaining the message behind the show, she added: “It’s a brilliant time to be a scientist. There are an awful lot of challenges to face and the ability of science to address these is something we need to keep on pushing forwards.

“We’d like our audience to think a little bit about the science alongside the fun superhero bit. And maybe inspire them to think about doing more about science in their futures.”

The Society for Radiological Protection are visiting Hull for the first time for their annual conference. The event is moved around the country because members are from all over the UK.

With more than 2,000 members, The Society for Radiological Protection is the largest radiological protection society in the world, excluding the USA. The Society is a learned focus for understanding radiation hazards and solutions, and for providing information to government, industry and the public on radiation protection.

The Society operates in the fields of medicine, the nuclear power cycle, research and other settings that use hazardous radiation. It also serves the public by providing information about radiation protection and associated careers.
