Hull City have started the search for their fourth manager in a year following the decision to sack Ruben Selles after less than six months in charge at the MKM Stadium. The news probably took few by surprise when it finally came late on Thursday evening, with a clear sense in the past few days the wind was blowing in that direction from the east, where owner Acun Ilicali and his ‘brains trust’ were meeting to decide what decision to take next after a shambolic season that somehow just avoided the disaster of relegation.

Brought in to keep Hull City in the Championship after the horror show that was Tim Walter’s brief tenure in charge, Selles achieved the main task handed to him by the owner upon his arrival. However, while safety was confirmed the manner in which it was achieved and the style of football played had not impressed the City owner, who opted for another change of manager.

Supporters were quick to have their say on the issue with our website flooded with comments, while BBC Radio Humberside took a host of bemused and frustrated callers and those messaging in after it became apparent Selles was departing. That’s not to say the decision was totally unpopular, with the now former manager having lost the faith of some supporters many weeks before.

We asked City fans to give us their opinion on a simple question, are Hull City right to sack Ruben Selles? Almost 2,000 people voted in our poll with a clear message sent over the decision. Only 18 percent of the people who voted said it was the right decision for Selles to be sacked.

A fraction over a fifth of the people polled were on the fence regarding the decision, with 21 percent neither angry or happy with the Spaniard’s exit, as they wait to see what happens next. While a large 61 percent of those who voted said it was absolutely not the correct decision to give Selles his marching orders.
