Hull City are looking for their fifth permanent manager under Acun Ilicali’s ownership after Ruben Selles was sacked on Thursday night after just six months in charge.

After Selles guided City to Championship safety on goal difference on the final day of the season with a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth, the Spaniard was given his marching orders.

Attention now turns to who will replace Selles in what has become the proverbial managerial hotseat in recent months. The leading candidate according to the bookies is Tom Cleverley at 4/1 following his recent sacking by Watford, though Hull Live understands he is not under consideration at this juncture.

Naturally, at this early stage, the market tends to reflect those available rather than any specific information, and that’s also reflected in the fact Tony Mowbray is the second favourite at 5/1, despite not being in the running whatsoever.

Brighton and Hove Albion assistant boss Andrew Crofts is a surprise arrival into third place with the former Welsh international ranked at 8/1 along with ex-Notts County and Swansea City chief Luke Williams.

Rob Edwards and Gary O’Neil are in at 12/1 and then there’s a host of managers available at 14/1 including Russell Marton and ex-City defender Ryan Mason.

Here’s a look at the early running, which is guaranteed to change in the coming hours and days….

Tom Cleverley: 4/1

Tony Mowbray: 5/1

Andrew Crofts: 8/1

Luke Williams: 8/1

Rob Edwards: 12/1

Russell Martin: 14/1

Will Still: 16/1
