The region’s largest festival of independent music is set to take place in Hull on Saturday, August 2 with a packed lined-up of artists, including some who are fresh from Glastonbury performances. Thousands are expected to attend the Humber Street Sesh Hull Marina event that will feature artist performances, family attractions and street food and drinks.
We’ve got all you need to know ahead of the big day including how to get to and from the festival, where to go for tickets and wristbands and what to expect on the site.
When is the festival?
It takes place on Saturday, August 2. From 12noon until 11pm, with gates opening at 11:15am. Last entry for wristband exchanges, or paying on the gate, is 9.00pm.

Where is the festival site?
The festival site is on the East Side of the Marina and includes Wellington Street, Nelson Street, as well as stages within Social events space on Humber Street and Pier Street pop-up space; with the rest of Humber Street and the Stage@theDock Amphitheatre operating as a free fringe area. Festival entrances are on Humber Dock Street and Queen Street.
What’s on?
There will be more than 100 acts and the festival will showcase some top industry bands from across the country, some of whom have recently graced Glastonbury stages, as well as shine a light on the region’s best-emerging artists. Visit humberstreetsesh.co.uk for stages, line ups and clash finder.
Is there any family entertainment?
There will be plenty of family fun at the festival with the much-loved Silent Disco; ScrapStore Creative Arts Marquee; photography exhibitions; with flash mob dances from Kingston Swing; performances from Iota Arts street entertainers, and a face-painting station. Stage@theDock, hosted by Humber Music Hub partnership with Freedom Road Creative Arts will showcase youth talent with a special line up of bands, solo artists, duos, and DJs from across the region.
Children 12 years old and under, accompanied by an 18 + years old paying adult, enter the festival for free.
Are there food vendors at the festival?
The festival will host some of the best food operators in the region serving up an array of mouth-watering delights including Greek Street Food, Love Hog Roast.com, All Fired Up Pizzeria, Oh La La Loaded Fries and Boujee Browns, Shiok! Singapore Street Food and Mimi’s Horsebox. There will be more stalls including gourmet burgers and hot dogs, sweet treats, ice creams.
Packed lunches can also be brought into the festival. There will be free water stations at each bar for refills.
Will there be plenty of bars?
The six festival bars, courtesy of Central Fusion Bar Operators, will be fitted with multi-dispense units that pour 12 pints in 20-30 seconds, and with additional bar staff promising that big queues are a thing of the past.
Is there a festival event guide?
Festival event guides made from recycled paper, will be available at the entrances and will include a clash finder and site map. The clash finder and site map can be downloaded from www.humberstreetsesh.co.uk in advance. There will also be plenty of signage with maps and stage line ups around the festival site. Event staff and volunteers will also be on hand for information and wayfinding.
What is the best way to get to the festival?
Festival organisers are encouraging the use of public transport, walking or cycling where possible. There is no parking on the festival site.
Walking – The festival site is a 15-minute walk from Paragon Interchange. Festival organisers suggest visitors walk under Myton Bridge Flyover then onto Humber Street. Alternatively, visitors may walk along Princes Dock Street then walk across the A63 Murdock’s connection crossing onto Humber Dock Street.

Getting home

Access information
The site is mainly on flat, hard ground with some cobbled streets except for Stage@TheDock which has deep steps but has an accessible lift to ground level. There are accessible toilets on site. Please see the site map.
Are there road closures in place?
Road closures start on Wednesday, July 30 at 8am and will remain in place until Monday, August 4 at 2pm. Maps of roads affected can be found on the festival website www.humberstreetsesh.co.uk/road-closures
Where do you get tickets/wristbands?
Tickets can be purchased via humberstreetsesh.co.uk and seetickets.com for £20 (+booking fees) until midnight August 1; with Just Eat, Festival partners, currently offering £5-off Just Eat Voucher, with each online ticket purchased. Advance-purchased online tickets must be exchanged for festival wristbands before entering the site.
