Hull FC are making the most of their week off from Super League action, with round 20 seeing the competition split over two weekends.
In total, three games have been played over this weekend, with three more coming next weekend. That has allowed teams to recharge the batteries, and the Black and Whites are no exception, with the squad now set for some planned time off away from the training ground.
The only exceptions will be for those who require immediate rehab sessions, with home training programmes given to make sure the side are ready to attack preparation for their next game against Salford Red Devils on Sunday 10 August.
In the meantime, players and staff will be going on pre-booked holidays, with the week off coming at a good time with Hull blowing hot and cold in recent weeks.
“They’ve got a little bit of time off now,” assistant coach Andy Last said. “Sunday to Sunday. They’ve got a bit of time off.
“The players will get home programmes, and there will be one or two boys who have to continue doing their rehab, but they’ll get a bit of time off, which I think is a great initiative from the game, to be honest. It’s a long season, and some teams are benefitting from a little bit of downtime now with the split round. We’ll benefit from that next week.
“It’s a tough old year. There haven’t been many breaks; even with the Challenge Cup, we still trained in those weeks. We gave the boys a fair old touch-up during those weeks – they were tough sessions. This comes at a good time for us, and when we get back, we’ll be very clear on what we need to do in the race for the top six.”
