New signing Semi Ajayi is expecting to see more improvement from Hull City when they take on League One promotion hopefuls Stockport County on Saturday.
The Tigers were given some time off on Monday and Tuesday to recover from their trip to Turkey before returning to work on Wednesday to prepare for their first domestic friendly in front of around 900 supporters, but they will return to action at Edgeley Park.
Ajayi has looked in good shape since arriving at City following his departure from West Brom at the end of the season, and will be aiming for more minutes in the legs two weeks out from the start of the new campaign at Coventry City.
City, under Sergej Jakirovic, have won their last three friendlies against Grimsby Town, Istanbulspor and Kasimpasa, having lost to Lincoln City in their first outing just days after returning to training.
While results in pre-season can often mean little, for a club that has found winning games increasingly difficult in the past 12 months, winning three in a row with all the noise around the club can only be good for confidence.
“Yes, definitely (another opportunity to get minutes in the legs),” the Nigerian international told Hull Live. “We’ve got another game on Saturday, so we’ll have a really good week of work and, hopefully, we’ll have taken another step forward by the time we get to Saturday, and we’ll see even more improvements from what we’ve done here.
“These pre-seasons go by really, really quickly, so, every single training session, every single game we need to make make the absolute most of it because we’ve only got a few more of them before the real stuff starts.”
