Hull KR head into Saturday’s Super League clash with Catalans Dragons aiming to end a six-year losing streak in Perpignan.
The Robins last tasted victory in the South of France back in 2019, with Catalans winning seven home meetings since. However, Willie Peters’ side have already claimed two dominant wins over the Dragons this year – one in Super League and another in the Challenge Cup – boasting a combined scoreline of 104-18.
Saturday presents a chance not only to break their Perpignan hoodoo, but also to bounce back from rare back-to-back defeats to Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards.
“We haven’t won over there since my time here, and it’s something I want to change,” head coach Willie Peters said.
“I think it’s a good time to change that. We’ve ticked off a lot along the way, and this is another one that we’d like to tick off.
“To have back-to-back losses, and go there and win, would certainly be a great achievement.
“We talk about little wins and celebrating the little wins, that would be a good one for us. That’s the outcome, we’ve got to make sure we go out there and perform and be better than last week.
“They’re a difficult team. I want to see a high-energy performance and a team that comes off the field on Saturday, knowing that they’ve given everything.”
Peters also emphasised that the trip to France provides a valuable opportunity for the squad to regroup and reconnect following their first run of consecutive defeats in 16 months.
“I think it’s a really good time for us to connect and get away together off the back of two defeats,” the Rovers boss continued.
“When you are going through a couple losses, the best way to turn that is by connecting more, spending more time with each other and enjoying each other’s company.
“We’ll connect and get ready to do a job on Saturday.”
