Hull City hope to learn the next stage of their appeal against the EFL’s three-window transfer fee restriction on Thursday, according to sporting director Jared Dublin.

It’s expected that the Tigers will get confirmation of the date of their appeal hearing, which is being fast-tracked, given the timing less than a month out from the beginning of the Championship campaign.

City hope to have their fee restriction scrapped altogether, or, at the very least, reduced significantly. As it stands, they can only sign free transfers and loan players, provided there is no fee.

An independent panel will now decide their fate. City have already prepared its case to defend itself, while the EFL has put forward its reasons for believing the Tigers should be punished and stopped from spending any more money.

“The transfer ban appeal that we’ve lodged with the EFL, we’re waiting for the next step, which would be Thursday, with regards to how things progress forward. We don’t really have an update to share in all transparency,” Dublin told Hull Live when asked for the latest.

“We’re still working under the same restrictions. That being frees and loans, but preparing, of course, should we get a positive outcome, then we go into the market and act accordingly. We will have an update, so potentially on Thursday, there’s the next course of action, and after that, we hope for a positive result.”

In the meantime, City continue to work on bringing in new faces under the terms of their current agreement with the EFL.
