Children across the Hull and East Riding area can enjoy free swims throughout the school summer holidays.

Both Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council have arranged a programme of free one-hour swims. In Hull, the junior swimming sessions are being laid on as part of the Healthy Holidays 2025 initiative.

Free swimming is for children and young people aged 15 and under (children aged eight and under must be accompanied by a paying adult) and although no booking is needed – just turn up during the session, complete a quick Healthy Holidays form, and dive in – families are advised that sessions can get busy, so early arrival is recommended to avoid disappointment.

The Hull timetable for swimming is as follows:

Albert Avenue Lido

  • Mondays – 10.30am-11.30am *except Monday, August 25
  • Fridays – 10am-11am

Beverley Road Baths

  • Tuesdays – 10am-11am
  • Fridays – 2.30pm-3.30pm

Woodford Leisure Centre

  • Mondays – 11am-noon *except Monday, August 25
  • Fridays – 11am-noon

East Riding Leisure is offering free swimming sessions for all children aged 16 and under, throughout the summer holidays. From Saturday, July 19 to Monday, September 1, there will be a total of 16 hours’ free swimming across eight of the county’s leisure centres.

Each centre will have two free sessions per week, with each session lasting an hour. Councillor Nick Coultish, the council’s cabinet member for culture leisure and tourism, said: “We are delighted to offer free swimming to all children aged 16 and under this summer.

“This is a great benefit not only for children but also gives parents, carers and grandparents the opportunity to have fun and stay active along with them. We know the school holidays can be an expensive time, so we hope everyone takes advantage of this fantastic offer.”

There is no need to book the free sessions, as they will be on a first come, first served basis. Under-eights must be accompanied by an adult, and standard adult swimming fees will apply.

Children under the age of three can swim for free at any time. See the full timetable for free swimming below or visit eryc.link/freeswimming
