Visitors to an East Yorkshire art gallery will be taken on a spectacular adventure through 13.8 billion years of world history – in LEGO form.

Dreamed up by LEGO artist Warren Elsmore and his talented team, Brick History turns epic moments from the past into vibrant, jaw-dropping models that will delight kids and grown-ups alike.

The exhibition will be held at Beverley Art Gallery, in Champney Treasure House, from Saturday, July 5 until Saturday, August 30.

Brick History makes reliving world events feel more engaging than ever, showcasing everything from Mozart and Martin Luther King to the Big Bang and DNA. Expect to see milestones like the moon landing and the rise of mobile phones — all in miniature brick form.

The exhibition kicks off at the dawn of the universe and whizzes through prehistoric times, ancient civilisations, Renaissance wonders, powerful empires, social revolutions, and mind-blowing scientific breakthroughs. You’ll watch history unfold through incredibly detailed LEGO scenes — from early politics to our first steps into space.

To get everyone’s creativity flowing, there’s also a free LEGO Brick Mosaic Making workshop on Saturday, July 5. Drop in anytime between 10am and 3pm to design your own mosaic tile with help from the local LEGO artists at BrickBox, and add your creation to a giant collaborative display.

Then, on Saturday, July 26, visitors can try their hands at LEGO Brick Picture Making, crafting their own masterpieces inspired by artwork in the gallery. This hands-on session is also free and runs from 10am to 3pm.

Beverley Art Gallery curator Hannah Willetts said: “We are so excited to share this exhibition with families and LEGO enthusiasts this summer. A journey through history brought to life in LEGO bricks, set within the historic Beverley Art Gallery, which has been welcoming visitors since 1910.”

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The Brick History exhibition at Beverley Art Gallery will be sure to entertain all visitors this summer. We are excited to host this creative exhibition which explores world history in such a unique and creative way and look forward to welcoming people to the upcoming family-friendly events.”
