If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Willie Peters and his coaching staff will surely think this heading into tonight’s clash with Wakefield Trinity. The Robins have an opportunity to open up a six-point lead, temporarily at least, at the top of the Super League.
Daryl Powell’s side is dangerous and has proven that throughout the season, most notably last week when they beat Wigan Warriors. They deserve Rovers’ full respect, and that’s exactly what they’ll get here.
The team appears straightforward this week. One change is enforced but two seem likely. James Batchelor is out with a throat injury and so he will need to be replaced, though the identity of that player is self-explanatory.
Rhyse Martin is available for the first time in four months after recovering from quad surgery and he will surely slot straight back into the side, especially considering Batchelor’s absence. His return is timely in that regard.
The other change expected is the return of Joe Burgess, who hasn’t played since the Challenge Cup Final. He wasn’t risked last week after a setback in training but Willie Peters admitted afterwards that Burgess would have played if fit, so you’d expect him to be recalled here.
That will see Noah Booth make way. It’s somewhat harsh as he’s performed well the last two weeks, but Burgess has been exceptional throughout the year.
Jai Whitbread could be moved to prop and Dean Hadley back-row in a role reversal from the start of last week’s game, but other than that, everything will remain the same.
