Scottish league outfit Hamilton Academical have revealed their pride at selling teenage goalkeeper Kerr Reynolds to Hull City for an undisclosed fee.
The 16-year-old stopper has come through the academy at New Douglas Park and has caught the eye of the Tigers, who have moved to snap him up and add him to their ranks at Bishop Burton after he passed a medical on Thursday.
Reynolds is highly-rated and has played for Scotland’s Under-15s and Under-16s, performing in the famed Victory Shield competition for the Tartan Army.
Accies cite the relationship between club owner Seref Zengin and the Tigers’ Turkish ownership as a key reason for getting the deal done swiftly.
It’s believed a minimum of £75,000 will be paid by City with any future add-ons related to performance and appearances, with the Scottish outfit also have a sell-on clause should he leave the MKM Stadium.
“We’re absolutely delighted to see Kerr take this next step,” sporting director Gerry Strain said. “It’s always a proud moment for the club when one of our own earns the opportunity to progress to a higher level.
“This is a testament not only to Kerr’s dedication to his career and his parents’ dedication to their son’s development, but also to the fantastic work of our Academy coaches, who continue to develop players of real quality. We wish Kerr every success at Hull City FC and will be watching his journey with pride.”
It’s not the first time the two clubs have worked together. Last season, Lewis Latona came down south for a trial with the Tigers’ academy.
