Hull City’s first home game of the season at the MKM Stadium is set to be moved owing to a fixture clash with Hull FC, who are also scheduled to play on August 16.

Super League outfit FC will play against Leigh Leopards at 5:30pm, while City have been scheduled to play at 3pm against Oxford United.

Clearly, that cannot happen, so it’s expected that Sergej Jakirovic’s home opener against Gary Rowett’s will be played either on Friday evening or Sunday afternoon, though those details are yet to be confirmed.

Assuming there are no further changes, it would mean City supporters will have to wait until at least the third game of the campaign for the traditional 3pm kick-off on a Saturday, when Blackburn Rovers visit the MKM Stadium.

That visit of Rovers will be the final home outing for almost a month, with trips to Swansea City and Bristol City leading into the international break. Their next MKM Stadium game is set for September 20 when Southampton visit East Yorkshire. A Carabao Cup run, however, could change that.

The Tigers kick off their Championship campaign at last season’s beaten play-off semi-finalists, Coventry City, with that clash at the CBS Arena kicking off at 12:30pm live on Sky Sports.

Early season fixture clashes, of course, are nothing new to the Tigers, given the groundshare they have with Hull FC while also seeing Hull Fair arrive in October. This year, however, the fair falls during the international break and a trip to Birmingham City, so it will not impact any home games.
