Warrington Wolves will give Matt Dufty every chance of returning to action against Hull FC on Saturday evening. The full-back fractured his cheekbone in the Challenge Cup final against Hull KR earlier this month but has trained this week and is aiming to play.

Dufty’s return to action would be exactly 21 days should he feature, with former Hull and now Wire half-back Marc Sneyd returning from a similar injury in a similar timeframe ahead of the cup semi-final win over Leigh Leopards. Sneyd’s return was 17 days, with Sam Burgess naming Dufty in his squad, but as per his pre-match press conference, he is ‘unsure’ if the speedster number one will feature or not.

Burgess told the Warrington Guardian: “Duff will be in the 21-man squad, but whether he plays or not, I don’t know.” The full-back will now hope to get through the rest of the week and Friday’s captain’s run, with Wire then making a final call.

Elsewhere, Burgess’ side should be boosted by the return of prop forward James Harrison. The front-rower has completed his 11-day standdown after failing a head injury assessment against Leeds Rhinos two weeks ago and is available to play.

The likes of George Williams is also named, with All Out Rugby League first reporting that the Wire half-back will join NRL outfit the Dolphins for the 2027 season, and if a suitable replacement is sought, perhaps even for 2026.

Meanwhile, the club have won just one of their last five Super League matches and currently sit in eighth spot on the table. They are five points behind Saturday’s opponents, Hull FC, who currently hold sixth position.

Warington Squad: Jordy Crowther, Ben Currie, Matt Dufty, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, James Harrison, Toby King, Tom McKinney, Joe Philbin, Sam Powell, Stefan Ratchford, Sam Stone, Marc Sneyd, Rodrick Tai, Jake Thewlis, Josh Thewlis, Luke Thomas, Paul Vaughan, George Williams, Max Wood, Connor Wrench, Luke Yates.
