Hull City will kick off the new Championship season with a visit to the Midlands and a clash with Coventry City, who were beaten by eventual winners Sunderland in the play-offs last season. That clash with Frank Lampard’s Sky Blues at the CBS Arena will be live on Sky Sports on the opening Saturday and kick off at the earlier time of 12:30pm in front of the television cameras.
Sergej Jakirovic’s first taste of league action at the MKM Stadium comes the following weekend when Oxford United visit, closely followed by Blackburn Rovers. City round off the first month of the season away at Bristol City, the scene of one of their most important away points in the final weeks of last term, playing almost 80 minutes with 10 men after Joao Pedro’s sending off moments after scoring the opening goal.
A trip to Swansea City welcomes Championship football back after the first international break of the campaign followed by the visit of Southampton, following their relegation back to the second tier. The Tigers’ first Yorkshire derby comes when Sheffield United visit the MKM Stadium on Saturday, October 4 with the return at Bramall Lane scheduled for April 11.
In October, City play three of the new additions to the Championship in quick succession with a trip to Birmingham City on October 18, followed by home clashes with Leicester City and Charlton Athletic, with Ipswich Town then due in East Yorkshire on Tuesday, November 25.
City’s first meeting with Wrexham and former boss Phil Parkinson comes when the Welsh outfit come to the MKM Stadium on Wednesday, December 10, with the return in North Wales on Tuesday, March 10, a game which kicks off the run-in. Their final home game before Christmas comes against West Brom, and there’s a mouthwatering visit to Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day, followed by a trip to Middlesbrough on Monday 29.
Successive home games against Stoke City (January 1) and Watford (January 4) will start 2026, and the second half of the season sees trips to Portman Road, Fratton Park, The Racecourse, The Hawthorns, Kassam Stadium, Bramall Lane, King Power Stadium and The Valley.
For the romantics amongst the Tigers’ fan base, Valentine’s Day will be spent in Suffolk at Ipswich Town before the Easter weekend sees City go to Gary Rowett’s Oxford United for a Good Friday showdown and then host Frank Lampard’s Sky Blues on Easter Monday.
It’s at Charlton where the Tigers will play their final away game of the season, before finishing the season at home to Norwich City on May 2.
