Big time boxing returns to Hull Saturday night for a stacked card at Connexin Live, with the event promoter promising it is just the start of things to come for the sport in the city. Streaming giant DAZN are showcasing the GBM Sports event at the Hull venue, with the European light-heavyweight title fight between Shakan Pitters and Brad Rea topping one of the strongest bills the city has seen in over a decade.

The Pitters v Rea fight is a high quality contest between two very exciting boxers, and comes as part of a five-fight main event card that also features Shakiel Thompson, Sean McComb, hard-hitting young Dutch prospect Gradus Kraus and former Team GB member Gemma Richardson.

Before the main event is a host of local talent, topped by Beverley ’s big heavyweight hope Adrian King. The Curtis Woodhouse-trained King has moved to 5-0 with successive stoppages and is back in another six round contest as he continues his steady climb up the domestic rankings.

Still only 20-years-old, Woodhouse is taking a patient approach with King, who is growing to become an intimidating physical presence and already boasts a jab that will have opponents thinking twice about engaging with him.

King could be one of the stars of the night on a bill that also features another Woodhouse-trained boxer in Harry Powell, who makes his debut on the show.

Harry Edgecumbe from Orchard Park will make his second professional appearance, while West Hull’s Louis West and Hull’s featherweight star Chelsey Arnell are also in action.

Izzy Asif, GBM Sports CEO said: “I’m really looking forward to this European light-heavyweight title clash between Shakan Pitters and Brad Rea.

“These are two very hungry fighters who both know that winning this title is the key to securing big future opportunities and making a name at world level. This will be a hell of contest, with both boxers leaving everything in the ring.

“Hull is a hidden gem in my opinion. Connexin Live is one of the best mid-size venues in the country and the local area is stacked with talent.

“Hull is a city with a lot of history and when I look at some of the talent coming through here, I see a bright future as well. This is GBM’s first visit to Hull but definitely won’t be our last.”
