Salford Red Devils loose-forward Joe Shorrocks has been suspended for one game after a challenge on Hull FC half-back Aidan Sezer. The incident, which took part in the Red Devils’ 38-6 defeat to Hull on Sunday afternoon, was penalised at the time, with Sezer taking issue with Shorrocks’ challenge.
Shorrocks has now received a Grade A late contact on kicker charge from the RFL’s Match Review Panel and will serve a one-match ban, missing this Sunday’s clash at St Helens – the third meeting of the two sides this season. He now has 11 penalty points on his record and has also received a fine.
Elsewhere, two other suspensions have been handed out. Leigh Leopards forward Alec Tuitavake will miss Friday’s important clash against Leeds Rhinos, with the prop slapped with a one-game ban for a Grade B late hit on the passer offence. He has been handed three penalty points, taking his total to six, hence the one-game ban.
Chris Satae has also been handed a Grade C Dangerous Contact charge and has been banned for one game. The Catalans Dragons prop will miss Saturday’s game with Huddersfield Giants, having received five penalty points, taking his overall total to six.
Two players have also been fined. Catalans’ Tevita Pangai-Junior for a Grade C head contact that also carries five penalty points, putting him one point away from a one-match ban, and Warrington Wolves’ Jordan Crowther for a Grade A late contact on kicker charge. He has received one penalty point.
Catalans outside back Mathieu Laguerre has also received a Grade A late hit on passer charge. He has received one penalty point.
