East Riding Council has received plans for a retail development in Brough, which would include a drive-thru Starbucks.
The proposed development – part of Brough South – would be located next to the roundabout where Moor Road and Bluebird Way meet, on the opposite side of the road from the existing Aldi. The site would be accessed via a proposed junction off Bluebird way,
The application, submitted to the council, proposes the erection of a drive thru Starbucks and five retails units. The site would be serviced by 49 car parking spaces, which would include four blue badge bays and eight EV charging spaces.

The five retail units would be placed at the north of the site in a single building. The entrance to each of the five units would be at the south of the building, facing the car park and the rest of the development. Two blue badge spaces and four cycle parking spaces would be located immediately outside the building’s entrance.
The drive-thru coffee shop, which both the planning documents and artist’s impressions explain is intended to be operated by Starbucks, would be located at the south west of the development. The building would be surrounded by a one-way drive thru road. In addition to its drive thru road, allowing customers to order from their cars, the coffee shop would have a walk-in entrance accessible from the development’s car park.

Illuminated signage is proposed to be mounted to both the building’s main entrance, and the highest part of the building’s roof. Planning documents say the elevated signage will ensure it is visible from the nearby Moor Road, and from Bluebird Way. The signage will be subject of a separate future application for advertisement consent.
The application will now be considered by East Riding Council.
