
A man has been arrested after a woman was ‘seriously injured’ in a motorcycle collision in Spring Bank on Friday night.
Humberside Police closed Spring Bank to traffic in both directions shortly after the incident was reported at 9:45pm. A 52-year-old woman was seriously injured and taken to hospital, the force said.
Humberside Police said a 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and failing to report a collision. The force has appealed for witnesses or people who may have dashcam or CCTV to come forward.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “A man has been arrested after a motorcycle is reported to have collided with a pedestrian on Spring Bank in Hull at around 9.45pm on Friday, 13 June.
“It is reported two motorcycles were travelling together from Collingwood Street onto Spring Bank when one of the motorcycles was in collision with a pedestrian at the junction of Hutt Street and Spring Bank. The drivers of both motorcycles then reportedly fled the scene.
“Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a 52-year-old woman, was taken to hospital to receive treatment to serious injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
“Following enquiries conducted so far, officers identified one of the motorcycles believed to be involved in the collision at a property nearby, along with a man allegedly exiting out the back of the property in an attempt to evade arrest.
“A 33-year-old man was subsequently swiftly detained and arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and failing to report a collision.
“Whilst inside the property, officers also discovered what were believed to be cannabis plants, and the man was further arrested on suspicion of abstracting electricity without authority, possession with intent to supply class B drugs, cultivation of class B drugs, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. He has since been released pending further investigation.
“Officers continue their investigation to identify those involved in the collision and would encourage anyone who was in the area at the time, has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time it occurred, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 710 of 13 June.”
