Get ready to roll into an exhilarating day of racing fun as the annual Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby returns.

On Saturday, June 14, from 10am to 3pm, the Humber Bridge car park in Hessle will be the location for a thrilling day of competitive spirit and crazy homemade soapbox racing cars, hurtling down a track. Individual, charity, youth and corporate entries are expected at the event, showcasing creativity, engineering ingenuity, and sheer speed.

Organisers said: “Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, there’s excitement around every corner as teams vie for the title of soapbox champion. Bring the whole family along for a day packed with entertainment, laughter, and friendly competition.

“With food stalls, live music, and activities for all ages, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Best of all, admission is free, so don’t miss out on the Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby 2025.”

Brought into being each year by Hessle Town Council and managed by local veterans’ charity Hull 4 Heroes, the event sees amateur teams craft and construct their own unique soapbox carts, affectionately known as “bogeys,” vying for both prestige and prizes. Beyond the adrenaline-fueled racing, the soapbox derby raises funds for Hull 4 Heroes, which aids veterans of the British Armed Forces as they navigate their return to civilian life.

“Anticipate heart-stopping moments of triumph and mishap as the teams hurtle down the track, showcasing their engineering prowess and artistic flair,” a spokesperson said. “And amidst the excitement, indulge in delectable refreshments and captivating entertainment that promise to delight all ages.

“Join us for the Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby 2025 — an enchanting event brimming with family-friendly fun and community spirit. Whether you’re cheering on your favourite team or simply soaking in the vibrant ambience and breathtaking scenery, it’s an experience not to be missed.”
