Hull City star Alfie Jones believes Hull City will benefit from the difficult experience they’ve gone through this season when they return to action next term.
Jones was involved at Fratton Park on the final day of a difficult season which saw City survive on goal difference after a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth proved enough with Luton Town losing heavily at West Brom.
Despite staying in the Championship, Ruben Selles was sacked with owner Acun Ilicali deciding the club needed to move in a different direction after stumbling over the line.
Now the Tigers have stayed up, attention turns to another busy summer with a new manager due and another influx of new players set to arrive at the MKM Stadium in a bid to avoid a repeat of the last 12 months’ difficulties.
Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi are expected to return at some point in pre-season training after their ACL injuries, while talented midfielder Eliot Matazo won’t be too far behind. With some solid, sensible recruitment, it’s hoped the future can be bright for the Tigers, and that’s something Jones believes is the case after going through the tough times.
“Yes, that’s it (things can be positive in the future). I think we can only grow from this experience,” Jones told Hull Live. “We’ve got a lot of young players in this squad as well and that’s only going to help them, a lot of new players to the league, so I think it’s only going to benefit them. We need to get through this season, but it will definitely help us grow for next year.”
