Chart topper Calum Scott says he is “really, really sorry” to fans that his homecoming Hull show next month will not go ahead. The Britain’s Got Talent star took to Instagram to confirm the Live from the Yard series of shows has been cancelled, with organisers citing rising costs and poor ticket sales.
The August 9 date at Zebedee’s Yard had been intended to replace a date last summer, which was cancelled amid fears about the impact of riots. It was to form part of the Live from the Yard series of concerts, which have now been cancelled entirely.
Speaking to fans on the social media platform, Calum said: “I just want to say that this was something that couldn’t be helped. I know that Steve – the promoter – was really, really looking forward to these summer shows, as was I. And I planned to bring up some really good talent for everyone to enjoy.
“I know for some of you this will be incredibly frustrating, especially after the cancellation due to the riots. But again, a circumstance beyond our control. I know this will be frustrating, I know this will be disappointing, I know that refunds will be given at the point of purchase.
“Hopefully I can come back with some news about a show a bit closer to home in the very near future.”

Ticket holders for Calum’s show were informed of the cancellation by email, with organisers saying they were very sorry to deliver the news and apologised for any upset caused. The email said: “Unfortunately the Live from the Yard series of shows can no longer go ahead this year.
“After originally being forced to reschedule due to the riots in 2024 we’d hoped to deliver the series in 2025 but after a combination of rising costs and the negative impact of the situation on ticket sales, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the shows. All customers will receive a refund, please return to your point of purchase for help and advice with this. We apologise to the artists and their fans for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause.”
Fan Karen Rigby had planned to travel from Liverpool for the concert. She said: “After seeing Calum Scott last year in Nottingham and loving his performance so much I was overjoyed to find my partner had purchased tickets as part of my 60th birthday present to see Calum again in Hull. The hotel was booked as we would be travelling from Liverpool and a meal booked in a restaurant.
“Unfortunately I am unable to get a refund on the hotel booking which was a birthday present from another family member. I have already booked to see Calum Scott in November in Manchester which is a bit closer to home and will look forward to this as I continue to celebrate my 60th year.”
The Live from the Yard series had hoped to attract up to 16,000 people to the city. Last year’s Calum Scott gig was supposed to be the first of four nights which went on to feature artists such including Ocean Colour Scene, Razorlight, The Zutons, Embrace, Cast and Reverend and The Makers as well as the Ministry of Sound Classical.
