A 66-year-old man suffered “serious injuries” when the bicycle he was riding was hit by a car in Orchard Park, Hull.

Humberside Police said the crash happened on Orchard Park Road at around 7.15pm on Friday, July 18.

A 28-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without a licence has been released under investigation.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV is asked to get in touch with the police on the non-emergency 101 number.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Orchard Park Road at the junction with Ellerburn Avenue in Hull at around 7.15pm on Friday, 18 July.

“It is reported the driver of a red Renault collided with a cyclist near the shops on Orchard Park Road. Emergency services attended, and the cyclist, a 66-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

“A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without a licence and has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision, has any information or footage which may assist officers with their ongoing investigation, are urged to please contact our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 25*99994.”
