They may have had their tickets for almost a year, after snapping them up within half an hour of them going on sale, but fans travelling to Hull for two Coldplay concerts will now be having to plan how to get to the venue.
For those arriving in Hull city centre by train or bus, they will want to know the best way to continue their journey on to Sewell Group Craven Park, home of Hull Kingston Rovers, which is hosting the music giants for two nights, on Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19. The band’s Music of the Spheres gigs will fill the stadium – which has seating for about 12,000 and has provided standing tickets on the rugby pitch – to capacity.
Coldplay’s tour has been ongoing since 2022, with performances in the US, Asia and Australia. The iconic band has headlined Glastonbury an unprecedented five times.
Renowned for their incredible live concerts, when the Hull shows were announced, the Robins’ chief executive Paul Lakin confirmed nothing would be scaled back when Coldplay arrived at Craven Park. He said audiences could expect “the same production that will be inside Wembley stadium”.
Buses
From Hull Paragon Interchange, the best service will be Stagecoach East Midland’s No 13 to Bilton Grange. Running on weekdays, out of Bay 34, there is a bus every 15 minutes, at 05, 20, 35 and 50 minutes past the hour, until 18.05. After that, there is a service every half hour, on the hour and at half-past the hour, with the last out of Hull at 23.30.
The No 13 stops at Greatfield (Eastern Cemetery), which is directly opposite the stadium, the journey taking between 22 and 25 minutes. For return journeys, the last Greatfield (Grange Pub) bus is at 22.41.
There is a half-hourly service to the Hull Interchange from 19.12, at 12 and 42 minutes past the hour, until 21.12, when the timetable alters very slightly to 41 and 11 minutes past the hour.
Stagecoach’s last bus of the day on its No 16 “ Morrisons ” service, from Bay 27, might be another alternative for fans who do not mind a 25-minute walk to Craven Park. The nearest stop is the Freedom Centre, in Preston Road, 1.2 miles from the stadium – there are no return journeys after 18.40, however, so it will be a case of making other plans to get back into the city.
Park and ride
A park and ride, from Priory Park, is being supplied by Stagecoach who will have a range of shuttle services over both Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19. Tickets for the park and ride can be purchased at hullkr.co.uk
