Excitement is building to the arrival of world-renowned band Coldplay in the city.

Two concerts will be staged at Sewell Group Craven Park, on Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19. They form part of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour and are the only other European gigs, besides the band’s ten-date tenure at London’s Wembley Stadium, to be taking place.

The sold-out shows at the east Hull stadium, home to Hull Kingston Rovers, will be drawing fans of the Glastonbury giants from Hull, East Yorkshire and beyond. The stadium has issued guidelines for Coldplay concertgoers.

One of the lists the rugby ground has prepared is of prohibited items for the nights of the concerts. There will be bag checks, so ticketholders should be aware of taking in any of the following:

Prohibited items

  • Airhorns or other loud instruments
  • Alcohol
  • Animals/pets (service animals permitted)
  • Any item which could be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety.
  • Audio recording devices
  • Bottles
  • Canes (mobility canes are permitted)
  • Cans
  • Dangerous or hazardous items
  • Drones
  • Drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • Fireworks, including sparklers
  • Flares
  • Flammables
  • Food
  • Glass vessels
  • Knives
  • Laser devices
  • Poles
  • Professional cameras or video recording equipment
  • Promotional items (including flyers, samples, giveaways)
  • Sharp objects such as knives or scissors
  • Selfie sticks/tripods
  • Smoke bombs, canisters or similar
  • Torches
  • Weapons of any kind (including replicas)

The Sewell Group Craven Park website states: “Any prohibited items will be confiscated and may be passed to the police to deal with further. Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to the stadium.”

Also listed as “not permitted” are umbrellas, along with cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and vapes, as the stadium is smoke-free.
