Hull FC could hand a Super League debut out to Cobie Wainhouse this weekend, with head coach John Cartwright including the young prop in his 21-man squad to take on Wigan Warriors on Saturday afternoon.
Wainhouse, who hails from Leeds and has risen through the club’s academy and reserve sides, is one of three changes to the squad. He made his senior debut on dual registration at Doncaster in victory over London Broncos last weekend and now could make his senior Black and Whites bow.
Speaking to Hull Live, Cartwright said on Wainhouse: “He’s had a few reserve grade games, and he got a start at Doncaster. He’s been doing well.”
Wainhouse, still only 19 years old, almost missed the entire season last year with an ACL injury. However, he recovered to play for the academy again last summer and has featured heavily for the club’s reserve side this year.
Elsewhere, Will Kirby has been named in the squad. The young forward has played on loan at Championship outfit Hunslet in recent weeks but could now get a third shot of the year for Hull. Ryan Westerman is also named.
They replace Amir Bourouh and Ed Chamberlain, who drop out due to head injury protocols. Both players failed their HIAs in victory over Wakefield Trinity last week, and, in Bourouh’s case, will sit out the mandatory 11-day period. However, Chamberlain, due to a couple of head knocks this year, will see a specialist before he is cleared to play again. Elsewhere, on-loan prop Sam Eseh is ineligible to play against his parent club.
On the injury front, Hull remain without Will Pryce (hamstring), Ligi Sao (knee), Jordan Lane (arm), john Asiata (hamstring), Liam Watts (knee), and Roman Dawson (ACL).
Meanwhile, Wigan have made two changes, with 2026 Hull recruit Harvie Hill and Kian McDermott replacing Abas Miski and Luke Thompson. Christian Wade is named again after making his Super League debut last weekend.
