Here’s a run down of some of the planning applications that have recently been submitted to Hull City Council, which include plans for a new student HMO near the University of Hull.

Student HMO

An application has been submitted for 29 Salmon Grove to be converted into a 5 bedroom student house in multiple occupation (HMO). The semi-detached house, which sits across the road from the University of Hull’s campus, is currently an office on the ground floor, with a flat above. The application submitted to the council seeks the conversation of both floors. Proposed floor plans show the HMO would have two bedrooms on the ground floor and three further bedrooms on the first floor. Plans state the works would include minimal changes to the exterior of the building.

An application has also been submitted to the council for works to 11 Prince Street. The works seek to restore the property on what is often dubbed Hull’s photographed street. Documents submitted to Hull City Council state that the building, which was constructed in the 1770s, has stood vacant for over two years. It is also said that the proposed works are needed to “restore its function as a family home.” The proposed changes are mainly internal and include the installation of a ground floor kitchen and toilet, alongside adjustments to the first and second floors to “accommodate modern family needs.”

Finally, the council has received an application for new signage to be put on to Lock Keepers Cottage on Wellington Street. The white cottage which sits at the heart of Hull’s Marina could soon be branded with new signage. Documents submitted to the council show how the ‘Catalyst Architects’ logo could soon be seen on the building.
