East Riding of Yorkshire Council has approved plans for 15 new homes off New Road in Brandesbuton.

The houses are to be built on a vacant section of land to the north of New Road. Plans show how a new access road and junction will be established to service the homes.

Each of the homes is to be provided with at least two off-street parking spaces, according to documents submitted to the council. Only two of the proposed parking spaces will be accessed directly from New Road, with the others being accessed from the proposed shared access road.

The development includes a variety of different types of homes including detached and semi-detached houses as well as bungalows. There will also be variety in the number of bedrooms each property has, ranging from two to four bedrooms. Each of the homes has been designed with both front and rear gardens.

Plans explain how thought went into the design and layout of the proposed homes in order for the development to assimilate with the character of the village. Documents claim the homes have been “designed to replicated the character and appearance” of existing developments within the village. It is also said “the heights and massing of the proposed dwellings have been carefully thought out to ensure that the development is in keeping with the site’s surroundings and does not detract from the character of the area.”

Regarding any potential landscaping concerns, the development will see a net gain of eighteen trees to the site through planting.

Overall, the planning documents claim the new homes will have a “positive impact on the character of the locality, by the change of use of underused and underutilised land to residential development.”
