A troubled woman spat out razor blades and handed police two more from her underwear when they stopped her in the street.
Bethany Docwra, 31, of Axminster Close, Hull admitted possession of a bladed article on March 4 when she appeared at Hull Crown Court. Prosecuting, Stephen Welch said it was the day after she had received a suspended sentence order from court.
Police officers had given her a lift home around 8.15pm. At 10.45pm she was again seen walking in a street and said she was going to the gym. But she was not dressed in sports attire.
Police searched her and she volunteered the blades from her mouth and underwear. There were a total of eight, said Mr Welch.
She told police she did not know they were illegal. He said she had four similar offences on her record which totalled 48.
She last appeared at court convicted of throwing a brick through a bus window injuring a passenger. It was out of revenge as she used to work for the bus company, the court heard.
Judge Tahir Khan had given her a suspended sentence of one year. For Docwra, Michael Masson said his client had committed the offence the day after she received a suspended prison sentence order.
He said there were exceptional circumstances why she should not be sent into custody and were highlighted in a psychiatric report. He said the harm she presented was to herself, rather than the public.
Sentencing Docwra, Judge Tahir Khan KC said the sentence he had imposed on March 4 this year had been breached. “I am mindful there are issues in your life and I have read reports on you,” the judge said.
He imposed six months in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered her to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work along with 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and told her it was important she kept out of trouble.
