John Cartwright has confirmed that Hull FC duo Amir Bourouh and Ed Chamberlain have failed their HIAs during Thursday’s win over Wakefield Trinity and are set to miss next week’s game at Wigan Warriors.
Chamberlain came off in the first half after charging down a kick, while Bourouh left the field in the second half as Hull clawed their way back to overturn a 10-0 deficit to win 16-10 at the MKM Stadium.
Hull also saw prop Sam Eseh leave the field for an HIA, but he returned after half-time to retake his place. Jed Cartwright is also okay after coming off after the hour mark.
“Yeah – so I believe,” Cartwright said when asked for confirmation that both Chamberlain and Bourouh failed their assessments. “Amir and Ed couldn’t come back on.
“Ed put some kick pressure on and copped a ball in the head. He’s had a couple this year. I’m not sure what the outcome will be there. I’ll find out more when I talk to the doctor.”
As for Bourouh’s incident, with the hooker confused as he left the field, Cartwright continued: “There was a bit of incidental contact there in a tackle. He got in an awkward situation. I’ll have to watch the replays and check that, but he failed his HIA, and that means he’s unavailable next week.”
However, back rower Cartwright is fine and left the field as planned after sixty minutes. He was seen in Hull’s dugout area with ice on his hamstring, but he is okay with no issues arising from the clash.
“Jed was alright,” Cartwright added. “The plan was always to play him for sixty minutes. We probably pushed him out a touch longer just through the fact of the head knocks and our interchange. We used more than we planned.”
