Leeds Rhinos coach Brad Arthur is hopeful his side have learned a lesson from their last meeting with Hull KR and has told his players, if they’re you’re still swinging at 70 minutes you’ve got this. Arthur’s side were beaten by the Robins 20-14 at Headingley back in April in a game Leeds could, and they feel, should have won.
Three tries in the last 11 minutes of the match swung the game in Rovers’ favour, much to the frustration of the home crowd. A little over two months later and Leeds come to Craven Park looking to do what only Wigan have managed to do in the last year, inflict a defeat on KR.
Doing so at Craven Park represents an even bigger challenge for Leeds, but Arthur’s side have shown this season they are more than capable of halting the Robins’ flight to the League Leaders Shield.
“We face another beast, another different challenge this weekend,” said Arthur when asked about the trip to East Hull. “I feel like we did a good job last time we played them and we got ourselves in a winnable position, but then we just lost a little bit of belief in our control at the back end of the game. So hopefully we can still be swinging at the 70 minute mark.
“I think they start really well. We’ve got the utmost respect for how good a team they are, but probably the biggest challenge is making sure that we’re good. If we can walk away from there and we’ve put in a performance where we’re really happy with it, then we’ll be able to get a real good indication of where we sit.
“But we’re only going to know and learn more about ourselves if we give ourselves the best opportunity. That’s what we’re chasing, the best version of what we can do.”
