Hull City have been keen users of the loan market in recent seasons and no doubt they will be again over the coming weeks before the transfer window closes at the beginning of September.

From signing Regan Slater for £50,000 after a loan spell from Sheffield United to bringing in Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool, the Tigers have been able to attract some eye-catching talent.

That was the case again last season with the arrival of Joe Gelhardt, who bagged five crucial goals during his stint to help keep City in the Championship after arriving in January from Leeds United.

While other loanees didn’t work out, Louie Barry, Fin Burns and Carl Rushworth, to name but three, the Tigers have enjoyed far more success than failure over the past few years.

Given City are unable to splash huge amounts of cash this summer, the emphasis on utilising the loan market will again be crucial to Sergej Jakirovic.
