A man is alleged to have stolen food and alcohol from a Hull shop before returning again later in the day in an attempt to “take the till from behind the counter”.

Humberside Police are investigating following the incidents at a store in Marfleet Lane last month.

A spokesperson for the force said: “On Saturday, 31 May a man is reported to have entered the shop at around 4.30pm and taken food and alcohol before fleeing.

“The same man is then believed to have returned to the shop at approximately 8.45pm and attempted to take the till from behind the counter before fleeing the scene.

“Following lines of enquiry, we are now releasing a CCTV image of a person we believe could assist our investigation.

“Anyone who recognises this man or has information that may assist officers enquiries, is asked to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting investigation reference 25*74756.

“Alternatively, you can report information anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
