A fundraiser has been set up for the funeral of a Hull man whose body was tragically found six days after he was reported missing.

Father-of-two Jamie Watson, 28, was last seen on Tuesday, June 17. His devastated friends and family organised searches for him and appealed for CCTV and information on his whereabouts.

Sadly, his body was found in the east Hull area the following Monday. The fundraiser on Gofundme was set up by Rebecca Taylor, the cousin of Jamie’s partner Paige, and has a target of £1,500.

Becky said any donations will be deeply appreciated and mean there is a “little less for Paige to worry about”. Jamie also leaves behind his two daughters, Darcy and Lacey, who are “broken”.

When Jamie went missing, “we instantly we became worried as he suffers with his mental health and a few weeks running up to this he had been quiet and withdrawn,” Becky said on the fundraiser.

“After a long week of worry, searches and sleepless nights and no sights or communication from him all of our hearts got heavy as we came to realise we may be looking for a body, on the 23rd June our feelings were confirmed as Jamie’s body was found not far from home.”

Becky said: “I’ve set this up because, even though as a family we will all pull together financially, we just want to give Jamie the best funeral and the most memorable celebration of life.

“This man lost his battle in life far too early and left a young family behind and I don’t want my cousin to worry about the financial side of things.” She added: “We’re a broken family and his children are broken too”.

In a statement from Tuesday, June 24, Humberside Police said a body found near Poorhouse Lane the previous evening was believed to be Jamie.

“Specialist trained officers have updated Jamie’s family and are providing support. Our thoughts are with them and Jamie’s loved ones and friends at this incredibly sad time,” the force said.

“A post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days. However at this time, there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
