To a generation of Hull clubbers, it was the place to be and be seen. When it opened in March 2002, Pozition promised to “transform” the city’s night scene.
The “sophisticated” £2m venue, which took over the old Queens Hotel, included cafe-bars, a restaurant, rooftop seating and a VIP area (Jedward and TOWIE stars were among the guests). The club had a staff of 60 and room for 1,300 people – and judging by the queues some nights, it attracted almost as many.
It closed for the final time on New Year’s Eve 2017, but we’ve found fantastic footage of a big night out there back in April 2008. It shows clubbers dancing the night away and posing for our reporter.

The two-minute video was filmed for Hull Vibe, a website set up by the Hull Daily Mail in the noughties to promote the city’s nightlife scene. And while the quality isn’t that great, the footage is sure to strike a nostalgic note with fans of Pozition.
Pozition later became Club Valbon and survived a fire in 2016, before closing for good the following year. The building was demolished in 2020.
