Emergency lane closures are in place on the M62 Ouse Bridge.

It comes as a damaged bridge joint has been identified.

National Highways said that “following advice from a specialist inspector, we have had to put in place emergency lane 1 and lane 2 closures on the M62 westbound between junctions 37 and 36, Ouse Bridge.

“Although the damaged joint is in lane 1 we have been advised to also close lane 2 for safety.”

People have been advised to consider alternative routes for their journey as the lane closures will lead to substantial delays.

At the time of writing, traffic reporting service Inrix said that traffic was queueing in the area.

The lane closures will be in place while more inspections are carried out, as well as repair works.
