Hull KR hardly needed to get out of second gear to hand out Catalans Dragons’ biggest-ever defeat. Willie Peters’ side, showing no signs of a Wembley hangover, utterly ran riot against their shambolic opponents who looked liked they been partying all week rather than preparing to try and end a three-game losing run.
Rovers were allowed to do what they wanted as they rattled off a dozen tries in a 68-6 thumping. Here’s how we rated the performance.
Arthur Mourgue – 8: Can’t imagine he’d ever have it so easy against the club who sold him in March. A walk in the park for him and kicked nine out of 11 goals.
Tom Davies – 8: Carried on with where he left off at Wembley: scoring a try. Produced one brilliant run, too, to rip open Catalans.
Peta Hiku – 7: A quiet night by his usual standards but didn’t need to worry about that with the state of this Catalans side.
Jack Broadbent – 8: Shifted back to centre to accommodate Mourgue’s return and showed, yet again, what a fine acquisition he’s been, grabbing another try.
Noah Booth – 8: Took his chance well in Joe Burgess’ absence and only his third appearance, producing a real confident play to set up Broadbent’s try and then grabbing one of his own as his classy centre returned the favour.
Mikey Lewis – 8: Scored two more tries, whipped up the crowd, made life miserable for Catalans, all with a beaming smile on his face.
Tyrone May – 9: Could have played in a dinner jacket. Laughable how he just ignored Catalans ‘defenders’ at times. Too easy. No wonder KR are elated he’s signed up for two more years.
Sauaso Sue – 9: The big prop stormed over for his first try and then added a second. Must have fancied a hat-trick! Bullied Catalans.
Jez Litten – 8: Back as starting hooker with Micky McIlorum nursing that biceps and just does everything so well: strengthening his bid for the England No9 shirt every week.
Dean Hadley – 8: Another who can seemingly do no wrong. Terrific effort as always, moving up to prop again with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves injured.
Jai Whitbread – 8: Loving life in the second-row. Scored another try.
James Batchelor – 9: Back to second-row and showing his class with two great finishes but, again, won’t ever have had it so easy.
Elliot Minchella – 8: Really wound up Ben Garcia. A bit of niggle for the big flare-up.
Kelepi Tanginoa – 8: Catalans must have dreaded the sight of him coming on. What a machine.
Jack Brown – 7: Did his bit off the bench as always. Maturing into a fine prop.
Eribe Doro – 7: Came on and heaped more punishment on Catalans’ battered pack.
Bill Leyland – 8: The young hooker had some brilliant touches, including some lovely runs which points at a bright future in Robins colours.
