Hull FC produced a sloppy and below-par performance on Friday night – losing to Castleford Tigers 22-14. Here are the ratings.
Jordan Rapana – A mixed bag in what was a common theme across the team. Effort was there but the pass rarely stuck. A tough night. 4
Harvey Barron – Scored Hull’s first try and produced a stern defensive play to deny Innes Senior a second try. However, there were a couple of errors too, including one straight from the scrum and another were he should have seen the ball out dead. 4
Tom Briscoe – Struggled to nail his catch and pass, which for a centre, is crucial. A couple of errors continued the theme. 4
Davy Litten – Missed a big tackle on Louis Senior as the Cas centre scored his side’s second try. Effort and energy were there. Just not Hull’s night. 4
Lewis Martin – A couple of big defensive plays and carried the ball strong. One of Hull’s better players. Scored two late tries late on. 6
Cade Cust – Back in the side after a hip injury. Tough night for the half. 4
Aidan Sezer – One or two uncharacteristic moments, especially compared to the high levels he’s played at this season. 4
Herman Ese’ese – Tried to lead the charge early on, but it was Castleford who started better. 5
Amir Bourouh – A sloppy forward pass was punished for Cas’ first try. A tough night. 4
Liam Knight – A decent first stint. Game was slipping when he returned. 5
Zak Hardaker – In the back row again and never backed down. 5
Ed Chamberlain – As above. Gritty as always. 5
Yusuf Aydin – Started at loose man. Came close to scoring in the first half before Barron’s try. 5
Jack Ashworth – Had some moments off the bench. Some big carries. 5
Denive Balmforth – Came on when the game had slipped. An error or two in his performance. 4
Matty Laidlaw – Enjoying a run in the side right now. Bags of effort and went close near to the line in the second half. 5
Sam Eseh – Threw himself about off the bench. Did well. Added some punch and an offload. Strong in the tackle too. 6
