Catalans Dragons have broken an unwanted record during their Super League Round 14 match against Hull KR.
The Perpignan-based outfit now hold the record for the longest minutes without scoring points in the modern era, beating Wakefield Trinity’s previous record of 259.
Catalans went into the tie at Sewell Group Craven Park on 252 minutes, and surpassed the previous record in the opening minutes.
The Dragons parted ways with Steve McNamara last month, although the club are still to officially announce the departure. Ex-England back-rower Joel Tomkins has taken interim charge ever since, but have suffered 48-0 and 34-0 defeats to Wigan Warriors and Hull FC respectively. They also suffered a 40-0 defeat to St Helens mid-May.
Catalans headed into the Hull KR fixture in eighth spot, having claimed just five wins from 13 rounds. They were also dominated by Willie Peters’ Rovers to be knocked out of the Challenge Cup at the semi-final stages of the competition last month.
