Plans for a petrol station on the site of a former Beverley car dealership have been submitted to East Riding Council.

The application details plans for a petrol station to be built on the site of the former Evans Halshaw Vauxhall dealership next to the A164 Swinemoor Lane. The application includes also the destruction of the existing building.

The application has been submitted to the council on behalf of Sewell Retail Limited, with the company’s Sewell On-the-Go arm already managing thirteen petrol stations and convenience stores in Hull and East Yorkshire. The applications states that the company will operate all elements of the proposed development including all management, employment, staff training, delivery of service and litter / refuse arrangements for all proposed operations.

Documents submitted to the council state that the existing building has been vacant ever since the car dealership ceased trading in August 2020, with the documents claiming the building “is in a tired state, and does not contribute economically or visually to Beverley or East Riding.”
