A planning application has been submitted to Hull City Council for a temporary classroom at Hymers College.
Hymers College, on Hymers Avenue, is a co-educational private school that was founded in 1893 following the death of mathematician John Hymers.
Planning documents submitted to the council state that a temporary building could be used “to accommodate the pupils from Hymers Hessle Mount as this school will be closing down”.
The Hymers College website explains that currently the Hymers College infant school is located at Hymers Hessle Mount School, in Hessle. However, from the start of the next academic year in September 2025, this is set to change as the children from pre-school to Year 2 will relocate from Hessle to the main Hymers College site in Hull.
Submitted plans state that the temporary building would stand for five years before being removed with the site going back to its current use as an unused grass area.

A floorplan of the proposed temporary building shows there would be one classroom, which takes up a large portion of the building, as well as a toilets area and a storage room. The building would also have an outdoor canopy area. Access to the building will be by a ramp to a set of double doors and steps up to a single door.
This application will now be decided upon by Hull City Council.
