IKEA’s first-ever Hull outlet is set to open later this month as the Swedish furniture retailer expands further around the UK.

The new ‘Plan and Order Point’, which was revealed to be on its way in March, will first open its doors at 9am on Thursday, June 19, next to Boots at Kingston Retail Park. Unlike larger Ikea stores, the closest of which are currently in Leeds and Sheffield, this small outlet is primarily designed to “provide customers with bespoke kitchen and storage planning services”. It “will also offer a collection area for online orders, with customers able to return IKEA purchases to the store”, a statement from the company said.

Around 100 home furnishing accessories from a “curated range” will be available to browse and buy at the store as well.

The Hull outlet, which will be 935m² in size including a 380m² customer area, will offer “in-depth home furnishing advice and expertise” along with assistance in planning, purchasing and installing kitchens, bedroom and living room storage. The store will showcase 13 different kitchens, eight PAX wardrobe solutions and three BESTA solutions, along with a home furnishing planning area, and an appliance studio.

Six design specialists will be based at the Hull store, who are part of a 13-strong workforce. Customers can drop in or book an appointment online via the Ikea website to get started on their designs. Products can then be ordered from across the full IKEA range for delivery direct to the customer’s home, to the Plan and Order Point, or a Click and Collect location of their choice.

Martyn Allan, IKEA area manager, said: “We are thrilled to introduce a slice of Swedish design and affordable home solutions to a new area of the UK. Our Plan and Order Points are the perfect place for customers to design their dream kitchen or storage solutions without breaking the bank.

“Beyond planning, these locations serve as an ideal hub for assisting individuals who live a distance from our Leeds and Sheffield stores, whether they’re looking to order a new sofa, bed, or any other IKEA product.”

The opening of the Plan and Order Point in Hull forms part of IKEA’s wider expansion plan, which includes the opening of two Plan and Order Points in Dundee and York, small stores in Harlow, Norwich and Chester, and a new city store in Brighton.

IKEA Plan and Order Point Hull will open Monday to Saturday between 9am and 8pm, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
